Convincing my Cousin to read Alexie's book -- The Absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian

How you been, how’s school?  Have you read any interesting book in your English class yet?  You know I have read a few interesting books that I would like to share with you and in fact, the main character is around your age too! It’s called, “The Absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian”. I know it doesn’t sound interesting but just try to read the first 3 pages and you’d find yourself hook into it, trust me.  It’s basically about a special young Indian boy who wanted to stand out and be known for his existence in the world. The book itself is very easy to read and understand. It also contains drawing which I know would have a huge interest on your part since you like drawing cartoons. The drawings are quite funny too and very straight to the point.

There are also interesting points and phrases that would motivates you to keep on reading , and find more about what will happen next and so on. Like when Junior, the main character said, “it sucks to be poor, it sucks to feel that you deserve to be poor”, he said this phrases as if he’d understand poverty and for his age, he knows enough.  It was moments after, his dog had been put down for being sick and he had to just take it in. When you read this book you’ll learn more about how everyone aren’t treated the same and how lucky you are to have those extra toys and consoles to meddle with. And you’ll learn to appreciate more of your parents love and nurture they given you. Trust me, you’ll love it.
